Everything is in and our May “On the Go” scrapbooking kits begin shipping May 14th! This kit is absolutely beautiful. The Amy Tangerine chipboard letters “Muse” will remind you of taking a stroll down a beach boardwalk. Heidi Swapp’s brand new clear stamps–count them, 17!–can be used in many ways, over and over again with the Prima’s fluid chalk edger Farmer’s Jean ink pad. I love Ormolu’s Fact or Fiction flair buttons. With this set of 8 you’ll be able to fit these darling buttons onto lots of page layouts. Love vintage scrapbooking? The antique vintage lace and 1950 dictionary page will inspire you. At Citrus Twist Kits we love vintage and you’ll always find a little something vintage tucked in your scrapbook kit! There is so much to love about this kit and we can’t wait to see what you do with your “On the Go!” May scrapbooking kit club kit. Here is a big overview of all the luscious ingredients. (The top row of paper is the backside of the paper included in the pack. See the Kit Club page tab for a full list of paper included in this scrapbooking kit.) Don’t forget, sign up for your 6-month kit subscription in May and we’ll throw in $5 of free product every month for 6 months. These free products are new on the market and color-coordinated to go with each kit.

Yesterday I got to share that Citrus Twist . . . a sassy little kit club . . . is opening for business. Here’s part of the logo:

Supplies are arriving daily and here is a sneak peek at some of the supplies that are here already. There are more to come, too!

That’s right! You’re looking at Heidi Swapp’s brand new Clear Stamp. In each monthly main kit you’ll be getting a stamp and a stamp pad. I just love the Ingvild Boehme fluid chalk ink line by Prima. It was my husband’s idea to provide ink if I was putting a stamp in; to add in paint if I put a mask in the kit, etc. With Citrus Twist kits . . . those sassy little kits you are going to love! . . . all you’ll need is glue, scissors and a paper trimmer once your monthly scrapbooking kit arrives at your door. Watch for more sneak peeks!

I am so excited to be rolling out the new kit club, Citrus Twist!

Scrapbooking is in my blood and my love for paper arts is addicting. Scrapbooking kit clubs are the way to go these days. I’m introducing a new scrapbooking kit club to scrapbookers who love inspiration to arrive in a box each month at their door. In one week I’ll be launching this sassy little kit club on my website under the Kit Club tab. Be sure to reserve your May kit. As a special bonus, when you sign up for a six-month kit subscription during the month of May you will get $5.00 of NEW free product in each of your first 6 kits, coordinated to go with each kit. You are going to LOVE the May kit!

The papers and embellishments I’m working with are new to the market and will inspire you to play, play, play! Each kit will include an assortment of patterned and plain paper, embellishments, a stamp and a stamp pad. I put it all together for you and you get a coordinated scrapbooking kit that you’ll be able to make several pages from. All you’ll need is glue, paper and scissors. I hope you’ll come and play with me and the brand new Citrus Twist, a sassy little kit club!

Check back in a week and you’ll see the new scrapbook kit club tab, a picture of May’s kit and the online store will be live.

I placed the stencil over my 12 x 12 page and painted one letter at a time, waiting between each letter to let it dry so I wouldn’t smear the paint. After placing the letter stencil I want on my page I used a sponge brush to dab on the ivory acrylic paint. (When you use a sponge brush you get great texture!) Before the ivory paint dried I dabbed on the pumpkin orange paint along the edge of the letter stencil to define the edges of my letter. The orange paint blended with the ivory paint a bit since I didn’t wait for the ivory to dry. Then I let the letter dry before starting on the next letter. After finishing the word “Emily” I used a small paint brush to connect the spaces left within each letter so the title wouldn’t look as stencil like.

Here are some more close-ups of my page. I love to layer and this picture will give you an idea of how I do it. Layering is a great way to use up those small scraps of paper you have left over from other projects! The tiny words above “wild rumpus” were cut from an antique bird book. The sequins came in my April Studio Calico kit club kit. I glued them down with my favorite glue by Tombow. The black scallop lace layer was made using my Knock Out punch by American Crafts.

Here’s my confession from my scrapbook blog desk today: when it’s dark and gray outside I bring the sunshine in by working on my family custom scrapbook. I focus on pages that have summer themes and bright, sunshiny photos! Here’s a page I worked on yesterday. I took inspiration from the wonderful banners that are being used in the scrapbooking world today.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Authentique, Imaginisce, Crate Paper, Echo Park, Pink Paislee, Fancy Pants Design, Teresa Collins; Word Stickers: Cosmo Cricket, Dear Lizzy; Stickers: Dear Lizzy; Button: My Mind's Eye; Tape: Amy Tangerine; Paint: Studio Calico Mister Huey and baker's twine

I picked a “blue sky” background to go with the photo of my daughter on a swing at our favorite park. Then I pulled bright patterned paper to really make me think of summer, focusing on pinks, deep pink, orange, blue and yellow.

To glue down the baker’s twine I used my Mono Multi liquid glue by Tombow, my favorite glue to use! Here are two things I love about Tombow Mono Multi: once it’s glued down, it won’t come off and the glue comes out in anything from a fine, thin line to a thick stroke. This makes the glue perfect for gluing things like baker’s twine!

Next I cut out small triangle shapes from the patterned papers. I did this with scissors, freehand. I glued the triangles right over the twine.

Good morning from my scrapbook blog desk. I confess that I spend lots of time each day searching the internet to see what other scrapbookers are up to. I love to see the current trends and the fabulous custom scrapbook pages and scrapbook blogs that others are making. And one of the things I notice is that layers are in. Here’s a page that I just worked on that uses layers.

Layers are a great way to make a traditional mat border for your photos more fun and colorful. Layers are also a great way to use those scrapbook paper scraps. Tags work well, too, for layers and there are some companies out there with wonderful tags in their lines, including companies like Chic Tags.

Here are close ups of the details on my scrapbook page:

The layered butterflies were made by cutting two butterflies off of a sheet of My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline paper. I glued one of the red butterflies down on my page. Next I took the blue butterfly and folded it gently down the middle and glued it down on top of the red butterfly. Next I cut out a long, thin shape to glue down as the butterfly’s body.

My final thoughts from the desk of this custom scrapbooker and scrapbook blogger are: Have fun with layering. Don’t be afraid to try it. It’s a great way to use those scrapbook paper scraps. Add in a few fun new tags (check out Chic Tags online) and . . . you have a beautiful, layered page.

I was sitting at my scrapbooking studio ready to start my scrapbooking blog when I looked up and saw an old Christmas card picture. My mother-in-law has since passed away since this picture. I love how both my father- and mother-in-law are smiling and so happy and decided to do this page so my daughter would have a great memory of them. Now a few days later, here is the page! The red checkered shirt my MIL is wearing inspired the red-white-and-blue color theme.

My grandparents-in-law loved to travel and that made me want to go with an international feel. I started with postal striped Crate Paper and added other paper and embellishments from there. My final touches were the stamping, using alphabet stamps and a new stamp set I just got from SwissGirlDesigns (an Etsy shop), My Minds Eye and We R Memory Keeps.

When you are working on your custom scrapbook pages, don’t be afraid to try colors that aren’t in season. This is the first time I’ve used red-white-and-blue on a page that isn’t for the 4th of July.
